How to Enlarge Images that are hosted on Google+?

If you are a regular user of social networking website Google+, then from time to time you must have come across images in your or someone else’s timeline that you want to download onto your computer’s hard drive in higher resolution. Just like Facebook and Twitter, it’s very easy to enlarge images that are hosted on Google Plus! Let’s check out in this post how to do so?

Enlarge Timeline Images

If you’d like to enlarge images that are being displayed in your or someone else’s timeline, then follow these steps:

1. Suppose you want to enlarge THIS IMAGE and download it on your computer’s hard drive. For this Right click on the image and open it in a new tab:

open image in new tab

If you are using Firefox, then you should copy the image URL by right clicking on it and then paste the copied URL in a new tab.

2. When the image opens in a new tab, you will find that its dimension is 500×422 and the direct link to the image URL will look something like following:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-GohLdvdwT8s/Us49hbzxK6I/AAAAAAAAAEw/FLHKcUFpGHQ/w500h422-p-rw/jeera-rice.png

4. Now have you noticed the w500-h422-p-rw part in above URL? This is the part of the URL which when tweaked gives you higher resolution of a image. Just replace w500-h422-p-rw with anything higher than w500 (width) and h422 (height) say w700-h500-p-rw and you will easily get a large image! Click here to see the tweak in action.

Important note: When enlarging images using above mentioned trick a particular portion of an image may get cropped automatically.

Enlarge Profile Image

Follow these steps in order to enlarge profile image of a person/company/organization:

1. Suppose you’d like to enlarge profile image of my Google+ profile. All you need to do is to right click on my profile image and click on open image in new tab:

open profile image in new tab

If you are using Firefox, then you should copy the image URL by right clicking on it and then paste the copied URL in a new tab.

2. When the image opens in a new tab, you will find that its dimension is 60×60 and the direct link for the image URL will look something like following:

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-DdNvmY87bLI/AAAAAAAAAAI/AAAAAAAAAio/yUmtlyGYC-0/s60-p-rw-no/photo.jpg

3. In this image URL also have you noticed the s60-p-rw-no part? This is the part of the URL which when tweaked gives you higher resolution of a profile image. Just replace s60-p-rw-no with a value higher than s60 say s250-p-rw-no and you will easily get a large profile image! Click here to see the tweak in action.

Important note: You should always respect privacy of other people.
