Donate for Martyrs of National Security Guard (NSG)

Previous topic - Next topic
QuoteTo donate specifically to the families of National Security Guard (NSG) commandos (Black Cats), you must use the Bharat Ke Veer portal (bharatkeveer.gov.in). Although the NSG is a special force comprising both Army and CAPF personnel, it falls under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Therefore, the "Bharat Ke Veer" corpus is the authorized channel for public contributions to the Next of Kin (NoK) of these martyrs.

The NSG is a "Federal Contingency Force" with a unique structure. It draws its "Action Groups" (SAG) from the Indian Army and "Ranger Groups" (SRG) from paramilitary forces (CRPF, BSF, etc.).
Donors often get confused between the Army Welfare Fund and the MHA Fund.
  • By donating via Bharat Ke Veer and selecting NSG, you ensure your support reaches the family of the commando regardless of their parent cadre, provided they are listed as an NSG casualty.
  • This is crucial because NSG operations (like 26/11 Mumbai or Pathankot) are high-risk, and the families require immediate financial stability which this corpus provides.

Alternative: Army Battle Casualties Welfare Fund
If the martyred commando was on deputation from the Indian Army (Special Action Group - 51/52 SAG) and you cannot find them on Bharat Ke Veer:
  • You can check the Army Battle Casualties Welfare Fund (syndicatebank.in/ABWF or via the Indian Army website).
  • Note: Usually, MHA coordinates NSG casualties, so Bharat Ke Veer is the first place to look.

Things to Watch Out For
  • Fake Fundraisers: During terror attacks, many private NGOs start fundraisers "for NSG heroes." These often take a 10-20% commission. The government portal takes 0% commission.
  • Privacy: NSG operatives are covert. Sometimes, their full details or photos might be withheld for security reasons even after martyrdom. In such cases, donating to the general Bharat Ke Veer Corpus is the best way to ensure the money reaches them anonymously but officially.
